“I don't normally tell people I have cancer. I don’t need sympathy. We just need a home.”
Two months after her family were made homeless, Rachel was diagnosed with cancer and was immediately put on the priority housing list by the council. That was nearly two years ago. She’s still waiting. Rachel has been living in one room in emergency accommodation with her two children for over two years.
Families in Ireland need the stability of a home, without it things can spiral.
In any decent society, Rachel would have found a place to live, if only temporarily. But sadly, the complete lack of any sort of affordable housing, means that’s not the case anymore. It is the most vulnerable in our communities paying the price.
Rachel has been fighting homelessness and cancer for two years. She can’t do it alone. Please help.
